Portrait, Figurative, Animal & Equestrian Oil Paintings

I am a portrait and figurative artist with years of experience in capturing the likenesses of sitters (both human and animal!). I work in traditional oil in an alla prima style that's both expressive and realist - giving an artistic edge to a portrait without sacrificing the all-important likeness of the subject (please visit the gallery page to see examples of my work).

Portraits are available in a variety of sizes ranging from individual 12 x 12 Inch head studies to larger multi-person paintings.

The Process

i. The first step is to let me know roughly the subject matter of the painting and the approximate size. You can do so by filling in the form below or emailing asmorrigan@gmail.com. We can then have a chat to discuss the further details of the painting and any questions you may have. There is no obligation at this stage.

ii. I typically work from digital photographs as it is the easiest way for clients to get to me (especially when it comes to animals!). At this stage, you should send a selection of photographs of your subject via email - I can give you advice on what qualities I am looking for in your photographs before sending.

iii. When the painting is complete I will send you an image for approval. Any changes can be implemented at this stage.

Pricing

I typically price my paintings according to size. Occasionally, complexity can be a factor as this will add extra hours and/or days to the completion of the piece. As such, there may be slight variations in price but I have included a rough guide below showcasing common sizes of painting and respective prices.

12 x 12 inch (30.5 x 30.5 cm)............. £295

16 x 12 inch (42 x 30 cm)................... £445

20 x 16 inch (50.5 x 40.5 cm)............. £740

24 x 18 inch (61 x 45.5 cm)................ £965

Terms and Conditions of Service

Please do read through the following terms and conditions of service.

Deposit and balance payment

At the start of the commission you will be provided with a full quote, including framing (if applicable) and shipping costs. If this is acceptable then you will be required to forward a 50% non-negotiable and non-refundable deposit for me to accept the project. The remaining balance must be paid upon completion of the artwork and must be done so within 14 days of the stated finish date. Artworks will not be sent out unless the balance has been cleared. If, after 4 months, the balance has still not been paid then I reserve the right to place the artwork on sale. Once the painting has been sold you will lose any claim or right to the artwork in question as well as any monies from the proceedings. Your deposit will also be forfeit. Please email asmorrigan@gmail.com if there are issues with payment.

Approval & Refunds

Before I send the painting to you, I will have sent you an image of the finished product for your approval. If you are unhappy for whatever reason with the final piece, please do reply back and I will be happy to adjust the artwork to your tastes. If, after this, you are still unhappy then you will be able to request a full refund for the money you have provided. I’m very proud to report that every client I have painted for has been happy with my work so I sincerely hope you will be too! Please note that I cannot accept refunds after the piece has been shipped unless it has been damaged (see below).

Damaged artwork

If you suspect the artwork has been damaged during shipment, please take photographs of the damage to the outside packaging before opening it. Please then proceed to open the package and  take additional photographs of the damage to the artwork (if you are reading this after having opened the package, please take images of the damaged packaging separately). Please send these images to asmorrigan@gmail.com. I send all artworks fully insured so I will begin the process for insurance claim with the courier service and be in touch with you regarding a refund. Please be aware that this process can take some time.

Damaged Frame

If you have chosen to have your artwork framed and the frame has been damaged in transit, then please follow the instructions above for damaged artwork and send photographs of the damaged frame to asmorrigan@gmail.com. I will then refund you the cost I paid for framing.
